 NEW MEMBERS ONLY WORKSHOP

This workshop is for "new members" only. You are considered a "new member" for up to 6 months after joining the club.

In this workshop you will learn nipping techniques to design different flower and leaf shapes.

You will be arranging your flowers and leaves in a design of your choice on a 6"x6" black base (see pictures). This project can be used for display or slumped into a serving dish. If using your project for display, it will be fired once at a cost of $1.50. If you want to make your project into a dish, it will be fired twice (once to fuse and once to slump) at a cost of $3.00. You may want to look at Pinterest to get some ideas for fused glass flower designs.

You must bring the following supplies for this workshop:

* a 6"x6" sheet of clear COE 96 glass

* a 6"x6" sheet of black opaque COE 96 glass

* any scrap glass you may have to make flowers and leaves

* any other embellishment materials you may have such as dots, stringers, frit, etc. to add to your design

The instructor will also provide embellishment materials (scrap glass, dots, stringers, frit) for those who need them.

Please do not depend on our studio store for all your glass. We'd like you to get used to ordering what you need from Southwest Art Glass (SWAG) or by visiting Tucson Stained Glass on Grant Avenue in Tucson. If you do plan on ordering your glass from SWAG, you will need to have your order completed by 5:00 PM on Friday, May 29th.

 You're also expected to have the following supplies at all workshops:

* Glass cutting tools: Toyo Cutter, Running Pliers, Grozers, Nippers, Cutting Surface (Quilt-type mats work best)

* Glues: Elmer’s (clear or white), Needle nosed bottle with non-aerosol hairspray

* Writing Tools: Black Sharpies (fine and regular), Pen & Pencil

* Other helpful items:Tweezers, Toothpicks, A carrying box for projects

* Safety Items: P-100 Mask, Safety glasses, Closed-toe shoes, Band-aids

* Bring a firing ticket!
