Registration

  • An Intermediate class making a Puffy Snowman with pre-class homework.

Skill level:  Intermediate - must be experienced with ring saw Intermediate:  Able to design and create simple projects with minimal guidance; trained on all studio equipment. 

Workshop in Frit Room. Note- different time for 2nd day

I

Each student will need:

  • Two 6" circles of clear or iridescent clear glass, previously cut & glued together - iridescent clear provides a nice frosty look which is perfect for the snowman when contour fuse is done
  • black dots for eyes, previously made
  • orange glass for carrot nose
  • black opal glass for hat
  • white opal glass for snowman head & body - some sections will be two layers
  • black stringer for eyebrows
  • black glassline paint for mouth - or curved black stringer if you have one
  • opal glass, color of your choice for mittens & hat band
  • either opal and/or transparent glass in two colors of your choice for scarf with stringers to match for fringe OR coordinating/contrasting colors noodles & stringers for scarf - if you look closely at pics provided you can see the difference in scarf detail
  • white stringer for snowflakes

IMPORTANT - YOU WILL NEED A LOT OF FRIT - AT LEASE 2-4oz. you may want to use either or both sizes but that is your choice

  • white opal frit - FINE
  • white opal frit - POWDER

Instructor will provide clear acrylic easel at cost for $4.00 - this is optional but works great with this size of clear glass if you want to display mounted.

General supplies to bring to class:

  • Glass cutting tools: Toyo Cutter, Running Pliers, Grozers, Nippers, Cutting Surface (Quilt-type mats work best)
  • Glues: Elmer’s (clear or white), Needle nosed bottle with non-aerosol hairspray
  • Writing Tools: Black Sharpies (fine and regular), Pen & Pencil
  • Other helpful items:Tweezers, Toothpicks, A carrying box for projects
  • Safety Items: P-100 Mask, Safety glasses, Closed-toe shoes, Band-aids
  • Bring a firing ticket!
