CL INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Learn to add a groove around medium sized round or oval glass cabochon jewelry pieces using a special bit on the grinder. A groove allows you to wire wrap the piece with the wire nestling into the groove.
You will need to bring:
* 2-3 completed cabochons (see below for making a cabochon) These cabochons may be plain or may be decorated.
* Safety Glasses for using the grinder
* $3 for wire wrapping supplies for 1 cabochon - payable to your instructor (Optional, if you just want to create the grove and don't want to complete the piece by wire wrapping)
* If you have any jewelry making pliers (round tips) please bring them with you
To make a cabochon:
1) Stack 2 pieces of 3mm thick glass approximately 1.5" x 2.5" (can be slightly smaller or larger) - if you want a round cabochon, start with a square. Oval cabochon, start with a rectangle.
2) Snip/trim the corners (this will make it easier for it to form into an oval or circle). You do not want any sharp corners, you want a nice, rounded piece.
3) Full fuse the piece to create your finished cabochon(s) to bring to class
In addition to the items listed above, as always bring:
* safety glasses
* closed-toe shoes
